Sappanwood is a storied dye and tonic wood of tropical Asia, its heartwood yielding a glowing crimson that colored empires and traditional brews alike.

Names & Nomenclature — Sappanwood, sold as Sappanwood and declared on the label as Sappanwood (Caesalpinia sappan), is botanically Biancaea sappan (L.) Tod., synonym Caesalpinia sappan, of the family Fabaceae (the legume family); its heartwood is known pharmacopeially as Sappan lignum; in Traditional Chinese Medicine it is 苏木 (sū mù), and in Ayurveda it is the Sanskrit Pattaṅga (Hindi Patang or Bakam); in German it is Sappanholz or Rotholz, in Spanish palo de sappán or palo brasil, and in French bois de sappan or bois rouge; and its common English names include sappanwood, sappan, Indian redwood, and su mu.

Approved returns must be shipped within ten (10) calendar days of written return authorization. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs on discretionary returns unless otherwise agreed.
