Names & Nomenclature — Loquat Leaf, sold as Loquat Leaf and declared on the label as Loquat Leaf (Eriobotrya japonica), is botanically Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl. of the family Rosaceae (the rose family); its leaf is known pharmacopeially as Eriobotryae folium; in Traditional Chinese Medicine it is 枇杷叶 (pí pá yè), and it has no classical Ayurvedic name; in German it is Wollmispel or Japanische Wollmispel, in Spanish hoja de níspero or níspero japonés, and in French feuille de néflier du Japon or bibassier; and its common English names include loquat leaf, Japanese medlar, and pi pa ye.
