Fresh Milky Oat Tincture (Avena sativa) — a 1:2 fresh-plant extract, made in small seasonal batches by AMA Remedies. Harvest date on every bottle.

Pale green-gold. Sweet, grassy, and round on the tongue — the milk is still in it.
For a few days each spring, the seed heads of the common oat fill with a white, milky sap before the grain hardens. Squeeze one and it beads out on your thumb. That is the whole window, and that is when these are cut — and put into alcohol the same day, before the milk is gone. Dried oat tops keep the grass; only the fresh plant keeps the milk. This is the tincture Western herbalists have meant for generations when they said "oats for the long haul."
Made at a 1:2 ratio — one part fresh oat tops to two parts high-proof alcohol, no added water — and steeped four to six weeks before pressing. Each batch is limited to what the season gives.
Ingredients: Fresh milky oat tops (Avena sativa), grain alcohol. Approximately 70% alcohol by volume. No added water.
Suggested use: Shake well before use. Adults: 1–2 mL (about 20–50 drops) in water, up to three times daily. Best taken daily over several weeks. Follow the directions and precautions on your product label.

Fresh or dried? Our Milky Oat Tops Tincture is made from dried oat tops and is on the shelf all year. This one is made from the fresh plant, in the milky stage, in the few days a year it can be — stronger, seasonal, and limited to what we harvest.
Caution: Oats may contain traces of gluten from field and mill cross-contact. Higher alcohol content than our other tinctures; take in water.
